Shut off your water immediately at the toby (the valve at your property boundary) and turn off electricity to any affected area. Then call us. The faster the water is off, the less damage you'll be dealing with and the less costly the total repair cost will be. We always recommend to our customers that they have a stashed supply of bottled water for these instances so that you can still function for a short time until Josh can come and make a plan to get it fixed asap.

Burst pipes are treated as emergencies, so we prioritise them and aim to get a plumber to you as fast as possible, including after hours when possible.
-
Common causes are age and corrosion (especially old galvanised or dux quest pipe), frost during cold Waikato winters, tree roots, ground movement and excess water pressure. When we repair a burst pipe, Josh will tell you if the rest of your pipework looks at risk.
-
Yes, we repair and replace copper, PEX and other plastic pipework. Sometimes a section repair is fine; if the pipe material is failing throughout, Josh will talk you through replacement options that would work for your property.

Many New Zealand home insurance policies cover damage caused by a sudden burst pipe, although damage resulting from gradual or ongoing leaks is often excluded. We can provide the documentation, photos and invoices you may need to support your insurance claim. Please let us know at the beginning of your communication with Josh if the work will be used for insurance purposes, so we can make sure we provide the appropriate information and documentation during the job.
